What happens to people when they cross over into spirit? Who do they meet? What is life like there? For millennia it has been the province of spiritual mediums to contact spirit beings and convey their messages to the living; the first serious scientific inquiry into spiritual phenomena, beginning in the 1840s and leading to the formation of the modern Spiritualist movement in 1848, was prompted by these messages.<\/p>\n

When his 17-year-old son, Joshua, committed suicide, Ron\u00a0Pappalardo wanted to know what had become of his son in the afterlife.\u00a0Through some gifted psychics and mediums, Joshua made contact in the\u00a0form of detailed letters describing what happened to him and others when\u00a0they made the transition to the other side, the people he met in the spirit\u00a0world, and what life is like for those who inhabit these realms. In his talk,\u00a0Ron will share his son\u2019s story, the revelations that came to him through\u00a0the letters, and the spiritual adventure that he has had as a result.<\/p>\n

Ron\u2019s work with mediums in the aftermath of his son\u2019s death\u00a0prompted a desire to develop his own spiritual gifts, and he has\u00a0since become a Reiki Master, gifted medium, and spiritual healer.\u00a0He completed the Course on Modern Spiritualism at the Morris\u00a0Pratt Institute in Milwaukee and has become an authority on the\u00a0history of Spiritualism, psychic phenomena, and mysticism. His\u00a0talk will cover the origins of modern Spiritualism, scientific\u00a0discoveries related to mediumship, and a demonstration of his own\u00a0mediumship skills with messages from the spiritual world to\u00a0members of the audience.<\/p>\n

Although he was raised in a traditionally Catholic family, Ron\u00a0searched for life\u2019s meaning through other faith traditions and\u00a0philosophies. His quest for truth led him to several of the New\u00a0Thought movements of the 1970s, such as Transcendental\u00a0Meditation, the Hare Krishna sect of Hinduism, Soka Gakkai\u00a0Buddhism, Baba Ram Das, and the Unification movement,\u00a0including graduate studies in religious education at the Unification Theological Seminary in New York.\u00a0He has decades of experience facilitating interfaith dialogue and political reconciliation in locations all\u00a0over the world. He hosts a monthly spirit circle, and speaks at colleges about dealing with grief and\u00a0preventing suicide. He recently published Reconciled by the Light: The After Death Letters from a Teen\u00a0Suicide, his account of his Joshua\u2019s life, death, and afterlife communications.<\/p>\n
