Unity Church of the Triangle, 5570 Munford Road, Raleigh, NC 27612
Prior to the Covid pandemic when SFF switched to virtual Zoom meetings , SFF met at this large church for several years, beginning Sept. 1, 2016.
Unity of the Triangle is located on Munford Road, which is directly off of Glenwood Avenue (Hwy 70) and is just behind Pleasant Valley Promenade shopping center. If you are coming from Raleigh, turn right on Munford Road next to AAA Carolinas, which is the third building past Rooms To Go. Follow Munford road to the end; there is a jog to the left about halfway down. Unity of the Triangle is the last building on the right and is next door to Telamon Corp.
If you are coming from the west on Hwy 70, there are several crossover points at and just beyond Munford Road.
There is plenty of parking in front of and behind the church. It is also possible to park in the parking deck at Pleasant Valley Promenade and follow a very short path to the front of the church.
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Avenue, Raleigh, 27607
This was our “home” several years ago, and we began holding our meetings at the UUFR with the May, 2014 event and our last meeting there was the August, 2016 meeting. We met in the lower level of the new sanctuary (the larger building with the upswept roof). There is plenty of free parking in the church parking lot.
UUFR is located just one block east of the Ridgewood Shopping Center on Wade Avenue. There are two entrances: one on Wade Avenue and one on Dogwood Lane. From downtown Raleigh, head west on Wade Avenue, turn left on Dogwood Lane, drive one half block, and enter UUFR’s driveway on the left. From the west, or from Cary, Durham, or other communities, take the I-440 beltline to the Wade Avenue exit, and exit onto Wade Ave heading east (toward downtown Raleigh). Proceed through the stoplights at Ridge Road and Faircloth Street, and turn in at UUFR’s sign on the right, one and one half blocks from Faircloth Street.
4900 Waters Edge Drive, Suite 120 (First floor) Raleigh, NC 27606
This is another place where we held our Thursday lectures, and most of our workshops. The April 2014 lecture was our last event at this location.
From the west (Chapel Hill / Durham / Pittsboro):
Waters Edge Drive is a short street just off of Jones Franklin Road. Depending on where you are coming from it may either make more sense to come via I40 or Hwy 64. There is definitely less traffic on 64 than I40 on weekday evenings. Either way, you will get onto 1-64 (Raleigh Beltline) and take exit 1C (Jones Franklin Road). If you came in from 64, you will turn left at the top of the ramp and cross over the beltline. If you came in from I-40, you will turn right at the top of the ramp. Waters Edge Drive will be on your right about 0.1 mile down Jones Franklin Road. The TCSL is on the left.
From Cary:
Depending on where you come from, you may wish to drive down Chatham Street towards Raleigh. Continue on as it turns into Hillsborough Street and stay straight to continue on to Western Boulevard. Almost immediately, turn right onto Jones Franklin Road. Waters Edge Drive will be on your left in about 0.8 miles.
Friends Meeting House (FMH)
625 Tower Street, Raleigh NC 27607
This is where we held some of our workshops in the past.
From the west (Chapel Hill / Durham):
Get on I-40 toward Raleigh. From I-40 West of
Raleigh, take exit 289 (Wade Avenue) and continue on the Wade Avenue
extension past Blue Ridge Road and past the I-440/1/64 overpass. Continue on Wade Avenue past the CUCC and through two more lights. Exit right onto Oberlin Road. Go down Oberlin Road about a mile. Turn right onto Everett Street. It is across from the Harris Teeter in Cameron Village. Go up Everett about a block and make the first right onto Tower Street.
The Friends Meeting House is a gray house on the left near the end of the block. You can park on the street or possibly in the large parking lot across the street.
Unity of the Triangle (Longview Center)
118 S. Person Street, Raleigh, NC 27601
This is where we held the Andy Dooley Lecture.
This church is 1/2 block north of Moore Square in downtown Raleigh and faces the side of the main post office on New Bern Avenue. There is free on-street parking and also parking in the parking garage at the corner of Blount & Hargett Streets (1 block west) that is usually free after 5:00 PM. Beginning August 14, 2016, Unity of the Triangle will meet at their new church at 5570 Munford Road, Raleigh.
Community United Church of Christ (CUCC)
814 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC 27607
This is where we held our Thursday lectures from June 2002 through December 2004, and have held some of our workshops.
From the west (Chapel Hill / Durham):
Get on I-40 toward Raleigh. From I-40 West of Raleigh, take exit 289 (Wade Avenue) and continue on the Wade Avenue extension past Blue Ridge Road and past the I-440/1/64 overpass. From the I-440 overpass, it’s about a mile to Dixie Trail. (You’ll go past Ridgewood Shopping Center w/Whole Foods* and past the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where we used to meet.) Make a right at the light onto Dixie Trail and the first left into the church parking lot, OR you can also continue on Wade Avenue past the church and make a right into the second parking lot.
