Nicolle “Niki” Morock, an area “ghost hunter” and the author of several paranormal-based books, plans to give us “hallowed evening” in October. Hang on to your seats as she shares some of her most interesting paranormal experiences since childhood—experiences that 12 years ago led her to join a paranormal investigation group, The National Society of Paranormal Investigation and Research (NSPIR) based in Raleigh. She is now its vice president.

This presentation is sure to get you in the mood for the “spooky season” with real-life tales of haunted places and people. It will inspire you to be more observant of your surroundings and to look at experiences that could be paranormal with a perspective that balances between belief in the supernatural and healthy skepticism.

Nicolle will share stories of NSPIR’s investigations of popular public locations, such as the Mordecai Historic Park in Raleigh with a house considered to be one of the most haunted in North Carolina, the Battleship NC, and the Ferry Plantation in Norfolk, VA. She will also cover some of the group’s more interesting private investigations with the names and exact locations withheld for privacy.

You will learn the rules for paranormal investigation used by NSPIR, based on ethics and safety, and hear examples of real-life audio recordings of electronic voice phenomena (EVP) captured during NSPIR’s investigations. During the process, Nicolle will relay how her perspective about the paranormal has evolved over the years.

By definition, “ghost hunting” is the process of investigating locations that are reported to be haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost-hunting team will attempt to collect evidence supporting the existence of paranormal activity. Ghost hunters use a variety of electronic devices, including EMF meters, digital thermometers, both handheld and static digital video cameras, including thermographic and night vision cameras, night vision goggles, as well as digital audio recorders. Other more traditional techniques are also used, such as conducting interviews and researching the history of allegedly haunted sites. Ghost hunters may refer to themselves as “paranormal investigators.”

More about Nicolle

Nicolle is a life-long student of the unsolved and unexplained with the hope that some day we’ll find some answers without losing our sense of the magic of it all.

She lives in the Triangle area of North Carolina and is an SEO content specialist for a national digital marketing agency by day and an author and podcaster by night. She has a B.S. in meteorology and a B.A. in communication, both from North Carolina State University.

She has been affiliated with the non-profit NSPIR since 2009. The group had the exclusive contract with the City of Raleigh to investigate Mordecai Historic Park for eight years, from 2008 to 2016. She still contributes her time and talents when asked by the current contract holders because she loves the place. As part of NSPIR, she also has been participating in the Haunted NC programs in October with the Wake County Public Libraries for about 10 years.

Independently, Nicolle is the creator, producer, and publisher of The P.E.E.P. Podcast (P.E.E.P. stands for People Experiencing Everyday Paranormal).

In addition to the two paranormal-themed novels pictured above, she has written a non-fiction book titled, “Please, don’t call me psychic: stories from my paranormal life.”

All of her books are available through Amazon and its distribution channels. The latter book features lessons she has learned from a decade of investigations with NSPIR.
